History in Brief
• In Corey's version of Earth, several old European-based families were cursed by a god to develop psychic powers that would eventually bring their family lines to ruin through madness and death.
• The powers weren't difficult to cope with at first, and sometimes the original cursed family members found them beneficial. Some family members didn't take the curse seriously, and over time the truth behind the curse faded into obscurity for all but a few families. All most of the remaining families across the world know is that psychic talents have run in their lines for generations, and each family has dealt with the resulting dangers to myriad results. Some family lines have been eliminated completely, with members being lost to psychosis and death as a result of their malignantly out of control abilities, while others have adapted and found ways to live despite difficult conditions and the threat of being discovered.
• Corey's family on his mother's side has a long history of spawning powerful telepaths, with the powers in the line growing stronger with each successive generation. Hundreds of years ago the powers amounted to a vague awareness of others' thoughts and feelings, but with successive generations have since ballooned uncontrollably to include psychokinesis, mind control, and pyrokinesis.
• Born in the UK, but as soon as Corey's parents realized that he would have the powers common to his mother's side of the family, the family uprooted and moved to the United States to seek help for their son.
Personality/Habits
• Independent-minded, but has a strong attachment to his family and their longstanding history
• Largely confident, but some of the attitude's for show. He's a young man in the process of figuring himself out independently from, and within the context of, his family's history
• Outwardly amiable, but careful about his secrets
• Having to repress so much about himself and his life has left him with several emotional hangups, one of which tends to find an outlet in thrill-seeking and pushing the envelope of experience. He can be reckless with almost anything except those parts of his life structured around keeping his power and family's history under wraps.
• He likes to flirt with people, but is frequently forced to draw sharp personal boundaries in the end. These boundaries, and his family's journey from the UK to the US in his mid-teens, mean he doesn't have much substantial relationship experience at this point.

His use, which only happened twice and when he was very young, leaves him in a fugue state and mentally bonded with all those his power touches. Forewarned is forearmed, though, and Corey has never purposefully used his powers despite being aware of their existence. His parents, aware of how powerful Corey's mother is and his maternal grandfather was, have never allowed their son to explore the exact nature or extent of his powers for fear of the damage he would inflict upon himself and those around him.
Corey relies on a routine of meditative techniques and medications to suppress his powers by day, and mild tranquilizers at night to negate the effects of his dreams and nightmares.
